Travel guide of Cuba

Cuba, with its beautiful simplicity, is a tropical haven and an exotic travel experience. The largest Caribbean island, Cuba is a wonderful vacation destination. Endless sandy beaches, interesting culture and architecture, friendly people, excellent cuisine...all this make it a place you would not want to ever leave! Cuba is actually an archipelago, having a main island - the Isle of Youth - and about 4,195 small islets, commonly known as cayos. It is located 140 kilometers from The Bahamas and 180 kilometers from Florida's shores. The official language is Spanish.
Christopher Columbus called it Juana, but Cuba was originally called Cubanascnan. Spanish soldier Diego Velazquez colonized the island, establishing Baracoa in the 1511. After that he established Santiago de Cuba in 1514 and Havana in 1515. The independence came in 1830 and the slavery was abolished in 1886.
Cuba is a travel destination with 6700 species of plants, 14,000 species of invertebrates and 650 species of vertebrates. This island has four mountain ranges, Turquino (1,974 meters) being the country's highest peak. Cuba has a warm climate all year round. Although the average temperature is around 25,5 Celsius degrees, the average relative humidity is 78%. Depending on the season, a raincoat and an umbrella may be useful too!
Cuba is full with interesting places to see. From plantations of Pinar del Rio province to Varadero's beaches, from the Great Natural Park of Montemar to Cienfuegos, the country has a lot of attractions which are visited by more and more travelers each year.
